Privacy

Privacy policy.

What we collect when you use this website or make an enquiry, why we hold it, and how to have it corrected or removed.

01 · Who we are

The entity responsible.

Liu & Associates Pty Limited (ABN 39 634 432 830) of Sydney, New South Wales, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We handle it in accordance with thePrivacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Questions, requests for access or corrections, and complaints can be sent to contact@liuandassociates.com.au.

02 · What we collect

Only what the enquiry needs.

When you submit the enquiry form on this site we collect:

  • your name, email address and, if you provide it, telephone number;
  • the topic you select and the message you write;
  • technical information about how you reached the site — the referring page, any campaign tags in the link, the page you first landed on and the time of that visit. This is recorded so we know which of our communications are working. It contains nothing about you personally.

Our web host records standard server logs, including IP address and browser type, for security and troubleshooting.

If you become a client, we hold the information needed to act for you — financial records, identification documents and correspondence — under separate engagement terms and our professional obligations as registered tax agents.

03 · Cookies and analytics

No advertising trackers.

This site sets no cookies for advertising or profiling, and we do not use Google Analytics, Meta pixels or any other third-party advertising tag. That is why there is no cookie banner.

We use a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) which records page views, referrers, country and device type in aggregate. It does not create a profile of you and does not follow you to other sites. The data sits on a server we operate, not with a third-party analytics vendor.

04 · Why we hold it

Purpose and disclosure.

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and take instructions if you engage us;
  • keep records we are required to keep as registered tax agents;
  • understand which of our communications bring people to the site.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing. It is disclosed only to service providers who help us operate: our web host (Cloudflare), our transactional email provider (Resend), and our accountants and insurers where required. Each is bound to use it only for the service they provide.

Cloudflare and Resend operate infrastructure outside Australia, so information submitted through this site may be stored or processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

05 · Retention

How long we keep it.

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept for up to two years so we can pick up a conversation that was deferred, then deleted. Client records are kept for at least five years after the work is completed, as tax law requires, and longer where a matter is ongoing.

Analytics data is aggregated and holds no personal information, and server logs are rotated automatically.

06 · Your rights

Access, correction and complaints.

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to contact@liuandassociates.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

07 · General information

Not advice until it is advice.

The material on this site is general information about the services we offer. It is not personal financial, taxation or legal advice, and it should not be acted on without advice that takes your circumstances into account.
